What we collect

We keep data collection minimal. Here's what we store:

Creature state — your bot's personality, memories, and evolution progress. Stored locally in your browser (localStorage) by default.
User preferences — theme, language, and display settings. Stored locally.
Session analytics — anonymous page views via Plausible Analytics (no cookies, no personal data, GDPR-compliant by design).
Email address — only if you subscribe to updates or create an account. Used solely for service communication.

Local storage

Your creature lives in your browser's localStorage. This means your data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it to the cloud. No account is required to use the core experience.

Cloud sync (optional)

If you opt into cloud sync, your creature state is stored in Cloudflare D1 (database) and KV (key-value store). This is user-initiated — we never upload your data without your action. Cloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

What we don't do

We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.
We do not process your data with external LLMs or AI services. All creature intelligence runs client-side in your browser.
We do not track you across other websites.
We do not serve ads or share data with advertisers.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies — only a session token if you're logged in. No tracking cookies, no third-party cookies, no cookie banners needed. Our analytics (Plausible) is cookieless.

Data retention & deletion

Local data persists until you clear your browser storage. Cloud-synced data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard.

Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. Contact us and we'll handle it within 30 days.

Age requirement

livingbot is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you through the app. Minor wording fixes won't trigger a notification.
